I was born and raised in a family of artisans. My mother is a seamstress with a natural talent for creating and transforming everything she touches, and my dad always made our toys from wood and encouraged us to camp and take care of nature.
Simplicity, art crafts, and connection with nature were very important themes in my childhood.
Years later, already living in New York, where I worked as a fashion model, I discovered the practice of Ashtanga Yoga which take a huge place in my heart and became my life.
My personal yoga practice and also teaching, It was the way I expressed my gratitude to live this life.
On this journey, I had the honor of studying with masters such as Sri K Pattabhi Jois, Eddie Stern, and Tom Knoles.
At the time, I couldn't find clothes that satisfied me as a yoga practitioner and instructor. There were only the big brands like Nike, Adidas, etc... all very conservative, in navy and black colors.
As I became more immersed and aware of the situation of our Planet environmentally, and how today, the textile industry impacts our environment in a destructive way, I felt in my heart the need to create Somma.
That's how Somma was born, out of a personal desire and a global need.
A desire to wear pieces that were really interesting with functionality and durability and at the same time impacting the Planet in a positive way, generating more life and love.
With each piece the consumer purchases from Somma, he/she will be helping the Planet and generating more life.
May we all grow, learn and evolve together, contributing to the life of our Planet.
With love,
Aline
