Lansan ( Attenuated Protium )
Known as the Frankincense of the Caribbean, the Lansan tree is only found on the Windward Islands of Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Saint Lucia. The species represents a significant proportion (up to 10% in some places) of the island's remaining forest cover, and its fruit is a source of food for native wildlife.

Like other members of the frankincense tree family, Lansan produces an aromatic resin. This is highly prized by Saint Lucians, primarily for use as a slow-burning incense in shrines and house churches, and is also traded abroad, providing an essential revenue stream for small traders.
